Dr. Marcia Dewey obtained her B.A. in communication sciences from Michigan State University, her M.A. in audiology from Western Michigan University and her doctorate in audiology from Salus University in Pennsylvania.
She has been with the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin health network since 2007, and began specializing in tinnitus in 2008. She is trained in Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT). Dr. Dewey has presented on tinnitus at local, state and national levels. She created the Froedtert & MCW Tinnitus and Hyperacusis Program and has served as its team leader since 2011. She is currently the supervisor for audiology services at Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin.
Dr. Dewey's professional experiences have included comprehensive diagnostic hearing evaluations including specialized testing of hearing loss and pathologies of the auditory system and dispensing hearing aids. Currently, Dr. Dewey’s passion is working solely with the conditions of tinnitus and hyperacusis (sound sensitivity). She began applying neuroplastic tools to treating tinnitus and sound sensitivities in 2020, after finding the Association for Treatment of Neuroplastic Symptoms. She has completed trainings in this area including Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) and Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAT). This approach has revolutionized her patient care.
